The role of the Auditor-General is an important one. Parliament relies on the Auditor-General to provide independent assurance that governmental activities are carried out, and accounted for, consistent with Parliament's intentions.
The role of the Auditor-General in any jurisdiction is based on some common principles which have not always been clearly stated or understood. Those people who can make decisions that might affect the role of the Auditor-General especially need to understand these principles.

Elba Incorporated goals and objectives are :
How Did We Get Here?
Elba Inc. was the vision of 10 patients in 1990 at Royal Perth Hospital Shenton Park Annex.
Elba was formed due to no other assistance than the Quadriplegic Centre and occasional Silver Chain Service being available to people with a Spinal Cord Injury. The patients applied to the Federal Government for funding, taking two years to organise. Meanwhile, the majority attended the Quadriplegic Centre and the remainder were sent home with minimal assistance.
A constitution was drafted and funding approved during this period. A
co-ordinator was employed and a committee was elected with Mr. Peter Thorpe as the original Chairman.
Who we do it for...
Elba Inc. assists people with spinal injuries to remain in their own homes in the community, particularly where they are at risk of institutionalisation due to lack of accommodation support. Support is provided based on an individuals assessed needs, through services such as financial administration and assistance to support the person to manage their own care arrangements.
Members are encouraged to self manage and utilise support funding to meet their personal care requirements as well as other related accommodation support needs such as shopping, cooking etc..
